Hi! I'm am very excited to be elected as the GSA Vice-Chair February 2009! During the 2007-2008 academic year I served as the GSA Public Relations Officer. It's really great to be an active part of GSA again! ~ Karinna Hurley

Thank you to everyone who served as a graduate student representative during the 2008/2009 year!

Comments/Feedback about your experience? Please email me and let me know how to improve serving on committees for next year.

Congratulations to Silvia Castillo Hillyer - Student Affairs Officer for the Graduate Group in Ecology - the 2009 GSA Award for Excellence in Service to Graduate Student recipient!

Top Two Nominations for 2009 GSA Award for Excellence in Service to Graduate Students will be voted on at the May 7th Assembly Meeting!

A HUGE THANK YOU to the 2009 Nominations Committee! The committee of five graduate students did an excellent job selecting the top two nominations for the GA to vote on as well as working on improving the selection process for future years. Thanks!

Nominations for 2009 GSA Award for Excellence in Service to Graduate Students due April 3rd!

Each year the Graduate Student Association recognizes those who work diligently to advance the status of graduate students at UC Davis. We need your help to identify members of the staff, faculty, or administration who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and resolve in pursuing graduate student interests. Candidates will be evaluated by a committee chaired by the GSA Vice Chair and made up of five GSA representatives from across the disciplines. Up to two recipients will be selected by the committee and presented to the GSA General Assembly for approval. Recipients will be presented with a plaque recognizing their hard work and a gift from the Association.

Selection Criteria. The committee will evaluate nominations based on how the nominee:
1) Promotes and supports both graduate students’ academic achievement and personal well-being;
2) Provides support that reaches a broad audience and has a significant impact on individual students; and
3) Contributes in ways that are above and beyond the scope and duties of the nominee’s position.

Please email me to get a copy of the nomination form (also available at the GSA office). Also, I am still looking for two more graduate students to serve on the nominations committee.
