Executive Council

The Executive Council (EC) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the GSA. The EC is composed of a Chair, External Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Public Relations Officer and Campus Organizing Director, all of which serve a one year term beginning July 1. The Graduate Student Assistant to the Dean and Chancellor serves as a ex officio, non-voting member of the EC. As executive officers of the GSA, the EC administers all programs, events, and meetings of the Assembly. The Assembly in turn reviews all actions of the Executive Council and is responsible for disseminating all information presented at the meetings to their constituents.

The GSA Office Manager works under the direction of the EC and implements many programs.

Malaika Singleton was a newcomer to the GSA in her role as GSA Vice Chair at the beginning of the 2008-2009 academic year, but has been involved in the wider campus community. She was elected to serve as chair in February 2009. She is now serving her second term in the Chair position for 2009-2010.

Karinna Hurley was elected in February 2009 to fill the role of Vice Chair. She previously served as PRO for the GSA in the 2007-2008 academic year. She is currently serving in her second term as the Vice Chair for 2009-2010.

Marrah Lachowicz served in the role of External Chair in 2008-2009, after completing her term as Secretary the previous year. She is currently serving in her second term as GSA External Chair for 2009-2010. Marrah also serves as the Western Regional Legislative Chair for NAGPS and serving as the CIO/Secretary for NAGPS.

Trina Filan had represented the Geography Graduate Group in the General Assembly for two years and is now serving in her first term as GSA Secretary.
