Deadline to apply for Winter Quarter is March 6, 2007.
Organizations Fund Application.doc
In keeping with the Graduate Student Association goals of improving graduate education and graduate student life, a committee made up of members of the GSA Executive Council, GSA Assembly representatives, and representatives from graduate student clubs and organizations submits the following proposal for consideration by the Assembly. Adoption of the proposal would establish funding for and a mechanism by which graduate student clubs and organizations could apply for funds to support projects and activities open to the participation of all graduate students. In the spirit of building cross-disciplinary bridges and community; supporting the well-being of graduate students; and encouraging innovative and educational programming on campus, the committee supports the following:
Proposal to Initiate an Organizations Fund of the GSA
Funding: For a pilot program to run during the 2004-2005 academic year, we propose that a $5000 budget line be added to the current budget.
Program Outline
Upon establishment of an Organizations Fund, organizations recognized by SPAC as 'graduate student' organizations, and whose members are members of the GSA but are not eligible for GSA Department Funds (academic department-based student groups; e.g. Galois Group, Ecology Graduate Student Assoc. etc.) may apply to receive monies from the Organizations Fund of the GSA for activities or events of the organization. Eligible events, activities, and projects will benefit the entire graduate community at UC Davis.
The Organizations Fund will be distributed on a reimbursement basis. To receive funding, the organization will be required to submit application on behalf of a specific activity, event or project of the organization by the quarterly deadline established by the
GSA Vice Chair. Upon approval by the Organizations Fund Committee, reimbursement of an approved amount, not to exceed actual expenditures, will be given upon submission of original receipts.
One third of the annual Organizations Fund budget will be reserved for allocation during each of the three quarters: Fall, Winter and Spring. Funds not allocated during the fall quarter will be available for allocation during the winter quarter. Funds allocated neither during the fall nor during the winter quarter will be available for allocation during the spring quarter. If funds remain after the spring allocations, any events not fully funded during earlier funding cycles in the same academic year will be reconsidered for full allocation.
All applications received by the deadline will receive consideration for funding by the Organizations Fund Committee of the GSA. The Committee will endeavor to fund all projects fully. No organization shall be awarded in excess of $1000 per year.
Organizations may apply before or after the event for which they seek funding, so long as the event occurs within the same academic year as the application for funding.
Restrictions
All expenditures from Organizations Fund allotments must conform to University policy governing the use of University funds, U.C. Davis Policy and Procedure Manual, Section 330. Cases of alleged misappropriation of allocated funds must be submitted in writing to the Treasury Committee. The Committee may, after consulting with all parties involved, recommend to the Assembly that the organization be suspended from Fund participation for no longer than one year. All final decisions concerning the suspension of an organization are left to the discretion of the Assembly.
