While most grad students register each quarter for a full-time load of classes, seminars, or research credits there comes the need from time to time to grapple with one of the other registration options offered by the Office of the Registrar and the Office of Graduate Studies. We developed this page to serve as a starting point for students looking to learn about these options.

PELP Planned Educational Leave Program (PELP)
The Planned Educational Leave Program (PELP) allows any registered student to temporarily suspend academic work at UC Davis while still remaining enrolled.

In Absentia
Academic and professional program graduate students who find it necessary to undertake coursework or research related to their degree program outside of California during their tenure at the University are eligible for reductions in fees.

Filing Fee
The Filing Fee was established expressly to assist those students who have completed all requirements for degrees except filing theses or dissertations and/or taking final examinations (master's comprehensive exams or doctoral final examinations) and are no longer using University facilities.

Part-Time
Many graduate programs are available on a part-time basis to qualified graduate students who, for reasons of occupation, family responsibility, or health are not able to attend full-time. At present, resident part-time students pay the full registration fee and one-half the educational fee. Nonresident students pay these fees plus one-half of the nonresident tuition. Applicants desiring part-time enrollment in an approved program should file a petition with the Office of the University Registrar immediately after admission. The form can be obtained through the graduate program coordinator.
