Trip Description
The Outdoor Adventures South Fork rafting trip is a fun-filled, one-day trip down the American River. The 12-mile span begins at Camp Lotus and ends at Folsom Lake. The first half of the trip takes you through a brief introduction by one of our experienced guides on proper paddling technique, basic commands, and a chance to test your new skills on class two rapids. After a short lunch, you will enter The Gorge and face the class three rapids of Satan’s Cesspool, Hospital Bar, and others. The day ends with a 40 minute bus ride back to your car.

Cost
The cost of the trip is $42.50 for students and ARC members and $62.50 for their significant others.

Signups
To sign up just stop by the GSA office at 253 South Silo with a check made out to "UC Regents." We have 18 spots available. If you are going to sign up, you will need a check for the cost of the trip as well as the following info for you and anyone else you are signing up: student ID, height, weight, sex, and whether or not you need a ride or can offer a ride to other grads.

Transportation
Outdoor Adventures doesn't provide transportation for this trip. The GSA will coordinate carpooling so that people who sign up can share rides with each other.

Food
Outdoor Adventures also doesn't provide any food for the trip. Their fact sheet recommends that rafters eat a hearty breakfast and pack snacks and a lunch in a non-crushable container. Bring something to drink (no alcohol and no glass bottles or containers that are likely to break/leak). Each raft will have a water jug, so everyone does not need to bring a personal water bottle.

Fact Sheet
This Fact Sheet.doc provides info about how the trip works and what you should wear/bring.
