4. Graduate Women of Color Workshop

Hello,

My name is Teresa Lopez, I am a member of Delta Xi Phi Multicultural Sorority Inc. Our organization is planning a workshop on May 11th and 12th called Graduate Women of Color. The workshop will consist of a panel that includes women of color who have attended graduate school or women who are currently attending graduate school. As of now we are trying to find volunteers who would like to be a part of the panel. We are looking for women with different cultural backgrounds with a variety of disciplines (education, STEM, social sciences, arts & humanities, etc).

Each person on the panel will give the audience a small background about themselves and discuss any hardships or difficulties faced, especially as a woman of color. The audience will consist of undergraduates who will be asking the panel questions. If you are interested please feel free to email me as soon as possible. We are hoping to get at least 5-7 women each day (14 women total). This is a great opportunity to encourage and inspire women of color that may need some guidance and support. Plus there will be free dinner!

The workshop will be May 11th and 12th, and the time is till to be determined but will be around 5-8 pm.

This will be our second year having this workshop, we had a great turnout last year with some great feedback from students! So if you feel you like you want to inspire other women (like those who were helped last year) please contact me thank you!

I appreciate your time and hope to hear from you soon. Thank you!

My email is “telopez@ucdavis.edu

5. Southeast Asian Graduation Application

Application for SEA Grad is due this Friday!

Graduating this year? The application to walk SEA Grad is due this Friday, March 17th at 11:59 pm! Hurry to secure a spot in the ceremony this Spring. Please spend reserve at least 10-15 minutes of your time for the application as there will be portions where you will be writing a personal biography of yourself for the program.

Southeast Asian Graduation, or SEA Grad, is one of six ethnic graduations here at UC Davis. SEA Grad is an annual ceremony that commemorates the personal and academic achievements of our community’s graduating seniors at UC Davis. The purpose of the ceremony is to honor the experiences of our graduates throughout their college careers. SEA Grad differs from UC Davis college commencements by offering a more cultural, intimate, inclusive and personal space to celebrate our graduates and their successes.

Click HERE for the application. If you’re not graduating but would like to get involved to support SEA Grad, sign up to be part of the Planning Committee.
