2. Graduate Student Seminar: Translating Research Beyond Academia

The course will feature speakers from a variety of science policy and science communication backgrounds with the goal of training graduate students to communicate effectively with broad audiences.

The course is offered as FST 298 for 1 unit P/NP grading. CRN: 55989.

3. Graduate Student Volunteers Requested for Introduction to Research Panel

Intro to Research workshop in conjunction with the Undergraduate Research Center (URC) is in need of graduate student volunteers to serve on a panel to answer questions about getting involved in research.

The event is scheduled to take place Thursday, January 18th, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at 114 South Hall, with a URC presentation from 5pm to 6pm and the panel taking place from 6pm to 7pm. You would give a short blurb about yourself and have an opportunity to share any advice you have, and after introductions there will be time for a Q&A. It would be nice to have graduate students from a variety of fields participate, as well as graduate students who were transfers during undergrad. However, any and all graduate students are extremely appreciated and welcome to share their experience.
Anyone interested is encouraged to email Anna Chen at afchen@ucdavis.edu
