Come join the Student Farm’s Community Table Project in learning how to grow plants at your own home and help start transplants for produce donations to our campus food distribution sites. We will also be getting our hands dirty with a little weeding session of the farm!

Bake bread with us! We bake bread and sell bread every week to raise money for the Yolo Food Bank and Mazon, an international organization that fights food insecurity. Volunteers who would like to help bake bread are welcome any time.

4. Call for Applications: Chancellor’s Graduate and Professional Students Advisory Board

We are now accepting applications for the 2018-2019 Chancellor’s Graduate and Professional Student Advisory Board (CGPSA)
Deadline: May 17, 2018 
 
The Chancellor’s Graduate and Professional Student Advisory Board (CGPSA) is seeking applicants for its 2018-2019 advisory board. The CGPSA board is a collaborative body of 15-20 graduate and professional students who work with campus administrators throughout the year to advocate on behalf of graduate and professional students from all disciplines and degree programs.
Completed applications, questions, and comments should be directed to Jeanelle Hope, Graduate Student Assistant to the Dean of Graduate Studies and the Chancellor and chair of CGPSA, at gradassistant@ucdavis.eduApplications must be submitted as PDFs to gradassistant@ucdavis.edu by 11:59pm on May 17, 2018 by 11:59pm.

 5. Focus Group on Affordable Housing at CBDD this week

Message from Jeanelle Hope, Graduate Student Assistant to the Dean and Chancellor:

This Friday during Coffee Bagel Donut Day, I will be hosting a focus group on Affordable Housing. As a member of the Chancellor’s Affordable Housing Task Force I am interested in getting some student feedback in some key areas. This will be a structured focus group with key guiding questions. We hope to use some of this information to inform our work within the task force.

6. Graduate Students of Color Spring Research Symposium

The Cross Cultural Center (CCC) and The Graduate Academic Achievement and Advocacy Program (GAAAP) would like to invite you to the GSoC Spring Research Symposium.
This symposium will highlight research from graduate students across a variety of disciplines at UC Davis. See attached schedule for more information

7. Interdisciplinary Environmental Justice Workshop

Issues of environmental justice permeate all facets of human and non-human life – from affordable housing and access to safe drinking water and nutritious food to safety in the workplace and finding technology-oriented solutions.
The purpose of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Justice Symposium is to bring together students, academics, activists, and industry professionals to learn about the many approaches that are taken to address inequity and degradation in the environment.
The Interdisciplinary Environmental Justice Symposium will take place on May 24, 2018, in the Multipurpose Room of the Student Community Center from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm.

8. Transportation Tomorrow Survey

“Transportation Tomorrow invites you to take our short online survey to share your thoughts on commuting, travel, and ways that we can reduce Single-Occupancy Vehicle trips to campus by 10% by the year 2025. All respondents are entered into a drawing for one of ten $20 gift cards to the campus store!

10. Food Access Resources

Several resources exist for students who are having difficulty affording healthy food.

You may be eligible for CalFresh, which can give up to $190/month to help with groceries.

Food is also available for students at the Pantry in lower Freeborn or through Fruit & Veggie Up – now located at the MU!

11. GSA Evening at the Farmer’s Market

Join the GSA on Wednesday, May 23rd from 5:30-7:30PM in Central Park to enjoy one of Davis’ finest institutions, the evening Farmer’s Market! We’ll be setting up a small area for GSA members to enjoy the evening’s festivities and live music. The GSA will provide wraps and sandwiches (with vegetarian and gluten free options), chips, and sodas + waters. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and come join us!
