1. GSA + LGBTQIA Resource Center Yoga
Yoga classes for graduate students are provided by the GSA with the LGBTQIA Resource Center on Friday mornings, starting at 7:30 a.m. and lasting until 9. Classes will be in the Student Community Center, meeting room D.

4. Special Projects Fund
Departments and other groups seeking funds in order to host events or projects for graduate students can apply to the GSA Special Projects fund. Instructions for the application are on the linked webpage—be sure to proofread your budget and carefully read the guidelines for reimbursement.
5. Student Activism Fund
The Student Activism Fund is a source of funding for graduate student-initiated activism projects of significant interest or value to graduate students across campus. The GSA budget allocates over $3,000 each year for such projects; the amount offered to any one project is limited to $500.

2. I Am First: Navigating Grad School With a Proactive Mindset
PFTF Fellows Destiny Garcia and Melissa Patiño Vega will host a half day empowerment conference for graduate students! First generation graduate students are strongly encouraged to attend. The conference will include key workshops including: Explaining your graduate journey – to family and loved ones; Every Penny Counts: funding graduate school; Mental Health workshop: de-stress; and Real Talk: a student & faculty discussion panel. A light breakfast, refreshments and lunch will be provided.
The conference will be March 7th, in the Garrison Room of the MU from 9 am – 1 pm.
3. GAAAP + WRRC Winter Quarter Grading and Writing Sessions
The WRRC will be partnering with GAAAP this quarter to host three writing and grading sessions. The dates will be:
February 4th(1-4 PM, meeting room D in the SCC)
- February 27th (9 AM-2 PM, meeting rooms A,B,C,E in the SCC)
- March 11th (9 AM-2 PM, meeting room D in the SCC)
Food, coffee, and tea will be provided. Please RSVP for the lunch.

The 8th UC Davis Plant Science Symposium on April 8th, 2019 at UC Davis Walter A. Buehler Alumni Center is now accepting registration and abstract submissions!

This symposium is part of the Corteva Agriscience Plant Science Symposia Series, started in 2008 as student-run symposia at universities around the world. UC Davis has been involved since 2012, and this is our 8th year running. In the past years, we have seen steady growth, attracting attendees from both academia and industry.

1. Comments on Open Access Theses and Dissertations OPEN
The Office of the President invites comments on a revised proposed Presidential Policy on Open Access for Theses and Dissertations. The Policy is new and includes the following key issues:
- There is currently no systemwide uniformity or policy for ensuring open access to UC graduate students’ theses and dissertations. This policy will provide systemwide consistency for these works.
- Allowance for embargoes that delay the date theses or dissertations are made available in an open access repository.

1. Professors for the Future
Nominations and Applications Now Being Accepted for the Professors for the Future program:
Professors for the Future is a competitive, year-long fellowship designed to recognize and develop the academic leadership skills of outstanding PhD candidates and postdoctoral scholars who have demonstrated their commitment to professionalism, integrity and academic service.
Created in 1992, the UCD Professors for the Future program was one of the first professional development programs for future faculty in the nation. This unique program is sponsored by Graduate Studies and involves workshops, coursework, informal collaborations, and project-based learning.
The program’s primary goal is to help prepare fellows for leadership roles in academia and to assist their professional development. All fellows receive a $3,000 stipend if selected for the program.
2. Emerging Scholars Award
The UC Center Sacramento annually awards a graduate student whose research has direct impact on public policy. The awardee receives a $500 prize and gives a public policy lecture at UCCS, with an audience of 100-150, consisting of legislators, legislative staff, state agencies, consultants, faculty, graduate students, and other researchers.

You may be eligible for CalFresh, which can give up to $190/month to help with groceries.

SHCS has options for online counseling, medical, or psychiatry appointments through UC SHIP. You can find preliminary information here.
3. Upcoming UCD Health Survey
Student Health and Counseling Services wants to hear from you! Help us better understand your health and wellness needs.You may receive an invitation to take the UC Davis Health and Wellness survey. The first 50 students to submit proof of completion will receive a $10 CoHo gift card. Additional details will be in the email you receive. We appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey!
Hopefully any graduate students who receive the survey will take the time to fill it out so that our issues can be counted and recorded by the university.
