The UC Davis Graduate Ally Coalition (GAC) was formed in 2008 with the central purpose of empowering members of the graduate student community to serve as resources for their peers. GAC enhances access, awareness, and availability of campus resources and information to students and groups who may experience oppression, harassment, or isolation due to race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, ability, age, maternity, language, nationality, socioeconomic status and/or religion/spirituality. GAC facilitates a process for graduate students to empower themselves and their colleagues to have a more successful and positive graduate school experience.
Who supports the allies?
The GAC Core Members come together to plan and put together the year of events in collaboration with one another under the umbrella of GAC. The core members include the AB540/Undocumented Student Center, Cross Cultural Center, Graduate Student Association, LBGTQIA+ Center, Services for International Students and Scholars, Graduate Academic Achievement and Advocacy Program, and the Women’s Resources and Research Center. GAC is managed through a community governance structure, with logistical support provided by the Graduate Student Assistant to the Dean and Chancellor (GSADC). GAC’s annual program budget of five hundred dollars is provided by the GSA.
Lastly, GAC is supported by our graduate and professional student allies!
