Hamsa Ganapathi

Hamsa Ganapathi is a 4th PhD student in Geography. Her research focuses on the multifaceted effects of climate change on tree fruit production in California from an agronomic, economic, and social perspective. In the role of IVP, she hopes to help graduate students become better integrated into the UC Davis and larger Davis and California communities by ensuring that they have the support, resources, and guidance they need to thrive. She hopes to prioritize student safety and bureaucratic guidance, as well as create space for grad students to coalesce around key advocacy points, including international immigration, academic freedom, AI governance, and other key issues. In addition to serving the GSA, Hamsa is a Lead Student Farm and Community Organizer for the Student Farm at UC Davis. In her free time, she loves trying new recipes, practicing Indian classical dance, ice skating, and exploring new places.
